We now have scientific proof that the earth's pole's change their magnetic polarities due to the currents of iron in the core and this effects our life substaining magnetic field which protects us from the sun's bombardment. The problem comes from the fact that the shift isn't instantanious and during that time our magnetic field is unstable and thus greatly weakened. If the shift takes too long, the sun will blow our atmosphere away. This is what happened to mars (estimated to be with in a shift that has lasted 3000 years). The magnatude of the situation and the required technology and power generation are so far beyond our capabilities there is absolutely nothing (yet) that we could do. The mayians speak of a lifting to a higher plane, but do they really mean that they all died? Is death something we should want? Be excited over? Look forward to?

Re: Zero Point = Zero Population?
Thu, September 30, 2004 - 4:33 PMCheck your basic science- A planet's magnetic field has little or nothing to do with its gravitational field. A stable or unstable magnetic field will not affect the atmosphere; the Sun would have to go nova to "blow it away". Venus has practically no magnetic field, is closer to the Sun and has a far denser atmosphere than Earth. And your example, Mars, has no magnetic field so could have no magnetic field shifts. It seems to have lost most its atmosphere due to its low gravity. -

me: The magnetic field buffers solar winds. Solar winds would blow the atmosphere away. I'm sorry if it seemed to suggest a connection with gravity.
u: And your example, Mars, has no magnetic field so could have no magnetic field shifts.
me: but does it have a molten core? -

I'm still waiting to know how Venus, which is much closer to the Sun and has no magnetic field, has such a dense atmosphere.
"me: but does it have a molten core?"
As I understand it, it may have had a molten core once but certainly does not now.

Wed, October 13, 2004 - 11:10 PMYour "connection to gravity" thing is my error. In your initial message I read "greatly" as "gravity". I'm the one to say sorry!
